Mr P’s wife sadly had a stroke and was moved into a Nursing Home. He had a joint bank account with her and visited his local branch to let them know and cancel some direct debits she had. The meeting did not go as he had hoped as the bank froze the account and would only allow access to it for emergencies. Thankfully 2 years previously we had arranged Lasting Powers of Attorney for both Mr & Mrs P, we retrieved the Powers from secure storage and within 48 hours he again had access to their joint account. Without it the Court of Protection would have been required which could have taken at least 6 months and caused a great deal more stress to Mr P.
Mr and Mrs A wanted to move home and purchase a property more suitable to Mr A's deteriorating health. Rather than having to purchase a property with a lower value than their current home they raised £40,000 to purchase their ideal property using the new property on which to raise the equity.
Mrs B who is 76 lives in her home and is very independent. However she could not afford to keep herself warm let alone mend the car or travel to Canada to meet her Grandchildren. She raised £25,000 using the Equity in her home and was able to visit Canada, put her car back on the road and look forward to a more cosy home during the Winter. Her family were delighted.
Mrs C lived in a beautiful flat in London but realised it was not marketable because the remaining term of the lease was only 15 years. She raised £600,000 to purchase a new 125 year lease and immediately increased the value of her home by £1.5 million.
